So today, February20th 2013 is my first official day of
blogging. My sister-in-law Tiffany is my inspiration. She is the most avid
blogger I know. (Not sure if “blogger” is a verb or not.) Her posts are always
exciting, insightful and inspirational. I don’t know if I plan on aspiring to
be all three however I do love that even though I live 4 miles away from her I
still need to check her blog to see what’s going on in her life since it’s just
too busy to keep in touch. So I figured my family and friends might like to do
the same.
I don’t know where to start. I’ve wanted to start a blog for
quite some time now and have procrastinated not knowing where to begin. I kind
of wanted to start with Andre’s and my beginning and that was overwhelming. Then
I wanted to back up to college, then high school and then childhood which
became too daunting, so I put it off even longer. I think I’ll start with just
today and fill in the missing pieces when I can in hopes to close all the gaps
someday. I always want to know more details about my past. Since my mom died
when I was young there are many things I don’t know about her or even myself. I
wish my mom had kept a journal of some sort so I knew what she was doing day in
and day out, her hardships, celebrations, and hobbies. I wish I knew her
thoughts and experiences and what she thought of me on a regular basis. I think
this blog will be a great way to keep those I love as close as they can be to
me/us by reading about my/our life and checking out pictures once I learn how
to post. Hopefully someday this will also be around for my children to scan
through and feel “whole,” reading my thoughts and praises about them.
I guess I’ll start with something from today. I got my
shower gift from Sarah Bradley in the mail today. It was such a creative idea
I’ve been so anxious to see it. I gathered memorable t-shirts and sweatshirts
and sent them to her in NY. Our friend Shelby made the quilt so now I have all
those memories to snuggle up with. Looking at each patch gives me such a mixed
bag of emotions. Many are my college volleyball t-shirts. There are numerous
emotions that arise when peering at those. Overall amazed I made it though
those four years with Joan (our coach) but very proud I did. The girls I played
with were all so wonderful and my DOOFERS and I are still close among others on
my team. We traveled to Hawaii and the Dominican as a team; gosh it feels like
just yesterday. I have sports shirts from high school, a few of my mom’s shirts
I hung onto, t-shirts from Bali and Spain and a few other countries Andre and I
traveled. Jamboree in the Hills made it of course and some of my teaching
t-shirts I had made for the class. I have the breast cancer 5k Andre and I ran
and our savage race t-shirt from that muddy experience. Andre, Steven, Tiffany,
Darren, Corrie and I ran that race in prom outfits and got best dressed for
completing the race and looking muddy and spectacular. I have sweatshirts that
have Kylie and Kristopher’s hand prints on them from when they were little wean
pots! I also rocked a VT shirt to represent Ana and my dad’s cookie business,
Petri! I added my roots and have a Cuba and Cuba Lake shirt, it was really hard
to give a few up that I like to wear but I figured putting them on this blanket
would make them more “forever.” It’s one
of the most thoughtful gifts I’ll cherish forever. Thanks Sister Seerah and
Sheby! Well that's all for now, let's see if I can figure out how to post this!
