Back to school, back to school...

Here is the first day video link, Andre put it together after our first day.

I am having to go to great lengths to attempt to get pics into my computer, not only can I not upload photos from my phone, I can now not even access the pics from the computer. I'm getting lots of brick walls with my blog attempts.

Our first week went as good as a first week can go. It felt like a month. We were at work late each day so I could try and get things done. Mon - Wed I took the kids with me in the am and then I grab them as soon as I drop off my students so there is no time. I'm going to Everett's class during lunch and helping him eat, he's making progress. His willingness to allow me to do hand over hand and help him fork food or pinch it to his mouth is a success. He needs less distraction. He normally wouldn't eat without his speech program on his ipad as a distraction and now he's starting to eat without it. There is some distraction around him as you can imagine. His teachers adore him and his therapists at school are getting to know him. Everyone loves Everett. He does what he's told. All. Day. Long. Not surprised. I come into the class and he lights up but doesn't come after me, his classmates attack me with hugs but he just keeps on keeping on with whatever it is he is supposed to be doing. He has napped 3/5 days. He just goes through the routine as if he's done it his entire 3 years of life. He is an amazing kid and amazes me each day.

Clara said she loved school yesterday. She seems more eager to get to school this year than she did last year. That makes me so happy. I haven't interrupted her class much, only once on the first day. I don't have the time and she has a harder time than Everett letting me go. She hasn't asked so I have let her be, even though I'm dying to check on her. I'm going to go in at least once a week unless she tells me not to like she did last year because she says, "I want to leave with you, I don't like when you come and I can't leave with you." :( She gets great reports and earned treasure box.

We have lots of new rules in school this year with all the shootings that have taken place. We have an SSO student security officer on campus at all times. He is armed with a gun. You have to be level two cleared to be in the school. That means you need to be finger printed in order to walk around campus without an escort. So, we used to be able to walk into the kids rooms in the morning to drop them off and in the afternoon to pick them up. It's upsetting a lot of parents they cannot come in, I'm so glad I'm on the inside!! I knew I wanted to be a teacher to be with my kids. I never knew my heart REALLY knew what to do all those years ago. I wouldn't be able to handle life right now without them there with me.

I hope to figure out this picture thing soon. I'm not happy about not being able to blog my cuties.
