Week 24 - NY Baby Shower

I was home in Cuba during week 24. It was so nice being home visiting my family as always, this time it was a very sober visit so I was happily the DD for all the fun events going on. Ana took this picture of me at Gramps house.

We took this picture with Gramp right after.

We were on our way to my baby shower after visitng with Gramp. My sister Kristin threw me a shower. It was perfect. I am so thankful to have such wonderful family and friends. Kate had just left town and Susie wasn't getting in until Monday however it was still a wonderful turnout and you wouldn't believe the adorable outfits and thoughtful ideas they all came up with. Andre and I are both extremely appreciative of everything, thank you all so much!

Here are a few photos of her house decorated so creativly:

The cutest diaper cake. These take forever to make and it was perfectly constructed for me to bring home of course!

A few candids of the guests:

Leslie & Barb catching up.

Marie and Sharon enjoying some of the delicious food!

Mary, Barb and Kathy

Sarah, Sarah and Ana

Kylie, Linny, Grammy, and me

Opening gifts, my least favorite part. I feel so uncomfortable when people spend money on me. We are so greatful though because babies need A LOT! Jane made our future daughter a beatiful quilt. She made Andre and I one for our wedding. I don't know how she finds the time, she is very talented.

My nephew Kristopher and niece Kylie. Kylie was a big help with the shower I'm sure. She is as creative as her mom. Kristopher took some pictures for us and ran out to get more ice.

Sisters!

This was my potty when I was little. I'm sure all my siblings. Kristin used it with Kylie and Kristopher and saved it for about 15 years for me. How amazing! They don't make them like this anymore, and yes, it folds up nice and small so we can train on road trips if need be.

Julie, Susie, Sarah, and Jo-Jo all got me an endless box of goodies for her. I don't think Julie can help herself. They were my neighbors growing up and after my mom passed away Julie basically decided to include me as another daughter, like three wasn't enough. When I left for Florida for my first teaching job she had a kitchen FULL of everything a first year teacher would need for me, she has been teaching for 33 years and knows a bit or two about the profession. Thank you Julie for always looking after me! We took this picture to send to Susie since she couldn't make it. Look at those little sandals!

Kristin did such a wonderful job, everyone raved about how perfect it was. Everyone ate, drank and caught up, just what I wanted! Thank you Kristin, you're the best!

Summer Trip to NY 2013

Andre and I went to NY for a few days to visit family and friends. It was Grandma Lang's 101st birthday on July 3rd. Here are a few highlights from our trip.

We stayed with Brandi and Nick. They've finished their basement and it's brilliant for company! Two bedrooms, a living room and a bathroom, like you're staying at a 5* hotel. It's nice and cool in the summer, which is rare for a home in western NY.

I led the ladies in my morning pilates routine, one of the few favorite exercises I am still able to do. As you can see, Brandace didn't enjoy it all that much, silly girl pretending to sleep.

We got our nails did then went to "the beef" or "The Beef and Barrel" for lunch. It has the best beef on weck and baked french onion soup...delicious!

Our friend Nancy Mountain was turning 70 on the 29th and her family threw her a black tie event! It was so nice seeing everyone and the party was so nicely done. She shares a birthday with my mom and of course toasted to her as well on her big day! We love you Nance!

Some photos from her party:

My beautiful aunts I'm named after! Linda on the left, my dad's sister. Barb on the the right my mom's sister = Barbara Lin

Dr. & Mrs. Porcello, what a beautiful couple.

Happy Birthday Nancy!

Shooting at Brandi & Nick's house, I decided to wait until I wasn't pregnant, I felt weird holding a gun with a baby in my belly.

Brandi's stance she was taught in her shooting lesson. ;) Sexy and effective!

Brandi, Nick, Andre, and I took a hike up behind their house to the meadow, I miss these views living in Florida, especially in the fall.

Nick and Brandi fixed my cavity. I didn't used to be afraid of the dentist and the older I get the worse I get. My dentist let me know I needed a filling but I get so stressed out I didn't want to do it while I was preggers. Nick and Brandi convinced me to let them take care of it, which I know was wise. They work very well together. Nick is an amazing dentist. He knows my weakness' and I don't see or feel a needle. He keeps me calm, works fast and effective. My dentist in FL always compliments his work after he helps me out. The last time he helped me out there was an earthquake but I didn't feel it I was shaking so much in the chair myself. Thanks for taking care of me Dr. Porcello and assistant Brandace!!!!!!

Baby Feger's firsts' consist of: flying her mom's style which means being stuck in LGA for six hours and throwing up the entire second flight, visit "home" to Cuba, kicking her family & friends, taking a boat ride on the lake, eating mommies favorites like Cuba cheese, beef on weck, salt rising toast, french onion soup, real buffalo wings, the hungry people's breakfast at the Kopper Slopper, hiking to the meadow, dentist trip/filling, etc.

Guest Bedroom & house pictures.

As stated in a previous post, I wanted to add the pictures to show the final touches to our guest bedroom. We moved it to empty the room we wanted for the baby room. This was just a spare open room before that we stored things in, never really served a purpose. It had gross old carpet and it was my least favorite room in the house. Now it's my favorite, it's bright and inviting.

The mini office. It's so nice to be able to sit down, scan, print or copy. I've been wanting an "at home office" for quite some time. I'm loving how easy it is to get things done, I love the feeling of productivity with ease!!

Andre and I picked out some neat, colorful plaques in the Keys, they're perfect for the tropical themed room. He spray painted the base of the lamp purple and I got a $10 shade on clearance at Target. We looked at some really neat shades online but they're too expensive. Our wedding picture adorns the wall here. We both think it should be somewhere out in the house and more visible but we couldn't find a good spot for it.

The view out the window above the bed. Yes I clean my windows, I went around the entire house in early spring, they get dirty so fast from the summer rain. If you know me, they typically look worse when I'm done anyway...I leave STREAKS!!! You get the idea.

The view from laying in bed. Guests can open the door and jump right in. Our bedroom doors are on the far left and the dining room doors are in the middle behind the fan, for those of you that still need to visit!! Our house was nothing like this when we moved in. It was a yellowish house, it had a big dingy screen around the pool, no plants, no wood deck around the pool, an old fan, dirty white deck around the pool, and no furniture. We've worked very hard in the last two and a half years and my talented mastermind husband makes all this possible, yes, with my assistance of course!

This is the view of the backyard from the guest room bedroom doors. Andre won't be happy I am putting a picture in with leaves in our pool but it's summer and we get thunderstorms and wind daily. They all come from those pesky paper trees you see lining the fence. We want them dead and queen palms or cubans put in. Andre has a few positions on the HOA and is working on it.

We pulled up the sod over a year ago and Andre wanted Bermuda grass. It's pretty, it's soft, but it's a TON of work. Good thing he has two huge green thumbs and a love for his yard. He spends a lot of time making sure it's kept up. I used to help more, not so much these days. We burned Christmas trees on New Years Eve in the fire pit this year, those things go up in FLAMES! We enjoy cooking out and having family and friends over more than anything. We rarely sit and enjoy our own paradise, we're always trying to keep it up so visitors are great because then we enjoy it too. I have a feeling with our little one on the way we might just slow down and enjoy more, or at least I hope so!

I love our home. Many times I think Andre has lost his mind when he tells me the plans for the next project. Somehow he always makes it happen and I always LOVE it in the end, even if it's 7am-8pm labor all day Saturday and Sunday. Thankfully those days have been behind me for the last few months but I paid my dues for the first four years with him. There is still so much we want to do and we will someday. The baby room is next and I think will be last for a while. I think this will be my favorite project yet! Thanks for all your hard work Andre, I appreciate all you do!

Here are some pics of us in action at home:

Tiger trying his first espresso shot while talking to Grammy. What a multitasker! Love you Dad!

It wasn't the color we had picked out, but we loved it even more! The color we chose was more of a mustard yellow. This is better!

My 30th. Ana, Brandi and Nick came. I can never thank them enough for all the visits they've spoiled me with in the last year or so. I appreciate it and love them so much!!!

I'm so blessed!

Andre and his best friend. Precious! ;)

Painting the pool deck. You'll notice the end result was yellow.

Ana and Andre flying the kite on the course behind our yard.

My lovely ladies. We got a lot of use out of the bar the first two years, it's just taking a year off with a few guest visits to keep it in business!!

The burning of the Christmas trees!

Ana and Jonny's visit. I made everyone take a stroll around the neighborhood with me, they were good sports!

I need to blog all of those fun occasions, so that was just a few to show it's not all work, we play too!
