Andre has missed having a fish tank for years, so, he got one. He has always had salt water tanks but they are a lot of work and we do not have a lot of extra time on our hands. Therefore, he decided to imitate a salt water tank instead, it appears he did a great job because all those that have come over think it's salt. African Sicklets are the type of fish that are bright in color like salt water fish so he used those and you can only introduce two at a time because they are very aggressive fish. Big mistake number 1 - Andre deciding to stop into the pet store as a family to get two more fish. We came out with two fish and a CAT. Yes people, a cat. Hopefully he lives through all nine lives. This pet store doesn't usually have cats, so he probably thought he was in the clear. We go to this place because they have EVERYTHING else so we hold all the furry friends and Clara sometimes the no so furry friends and then go. The SPCA put four cages of cats in the store. The kids missed it and walked back to find daddy by the fish. I didn't miss it, my catdar is very strong. I pet them all through the cage, hating every moment for them stuck in this horrible box being poked at all day. This one gray friend, kept crying for me so I took him out. His purr was the strongest purr I'd ever heard. I tried to walk him back to the fish section to show the kids but he got nervous away from his cage, but Clara saw me and we walked back to his cage. He didn't want to go back in but he didn't feel comfortable walking around so we plopped down outside of his cage. By the time Andre came up front where we were with his two fish, Clara had tears in her eyes at the thought of putting him back in his cage. I reminded her she didn't need to cry to me. At this point Everett, Clara and I were all sitting on the floor by his cage looking up at Andre while Buddy (his given name, his full name is now Cuba Buddy Jr.) was snuggled into Everett. Andre didn't have a chance. He knew then and there Buddy Boy was ours. So, he and Everett took the fish home and came back with a towel. Clara and I walked through the store pinching each other (literally) because it did not feel real. I honestly didn't even look him over to see his markings or anything, he just gravitated towards me and that was the end of it. He is so beautiful. He was 4 months when we got him. He is such a good boy and super smart. He is mostly gray with white and light gray stripes. He has long limbs and is super sleek with short hair that is as soft as velvet. He feels like a chinchilla which is a pet I've always wanted because they are so soft but they live WAY too long. He is so sweet and adjusted to the kids well. I'll give more details later but I had to post this so Aunt Barb could see! ;)
In disbelief, it's HAPPENING!
We haven't done anything to the kids rooms since we moved in. Clara has been pondering what she wants to do with her room and now she wants a CAT room. While we snuggled Buddy during Everett's nap Clara and I hunted Etsy and Amazon for the best Cat Room a kid could have and we found some amazing things.
The other additions are our spring ducklings. This is the second year (which is our second year here), I wasn't sure if it would be a yearly thing or not. They hatched at our neighbors house in the bushes last year and I wasn't sure if it was a fluke or if ducklings would be something we'd have the joy of watching each year. This year we had two mama's and 17 ducklings. We feed them in the morning and afternoon, one day the mama literally knocked on our front door. They see my van coming and rush to us. Clara feeds them out of her hand. They stayed with us for about 5 weeks before they got big enough to make their way to wherever they go next. We have a lot of new pets this spring!

I thought I posted more of Clara's room ideas, I'll have to share that on another post. It's a dream room for a kitty cat lover girl!
